Mother dear I love you so, love you so, love you so
Mother dear I love you so, you are very nice!
Even when you yell at me, yell at me, yell at me
Even when you yell at me, I still love you lots!
I had to laugh at the second verse!
We had Linger Longer at church today, that is always on the 2nd Sunday of the month. Everyone who wants to participate brings a pot luck dish and we stay after meetings to enjoy a lunch together. Since this Linger Longer fell on Mother's Day and I am part of the activities committee I wanted to make it a bit more special, so we had the tables set up last night and decorated them with little potted flowers.
I bought 30 little 3" clay pots and 5 different ribbons. I wrapped the rim of the pots with the ribbon (6 of each style) and hot glued it on with a little white silk daisy. Then I potted a little flower in each one. I can't remember what they are called, but they are annuals and they have tiny little blue flowers with nice deep green foliage.
Anyway, I had also bought 3 large potted perennials (Gaillardia) that I had placed into large 8 inch clay pots decorated with a ribbon and daisies. I placed one of the perennials in the center of each long table and had five of the little pots going down each side of the table (one of each design of ribbon, I know I'm anal). I wish that I had taken a picture because it was all so cute!

The goal was for each mother/woman who wanted to, to be able to take home one of the small potted plants. We only had 8 left over, that I let one of the other activity committee members take home because she just moved here and wanted to brighten up her apartment patio. I was fine with that since she was covering part of the cost of this project and the rest of it I am turning in my receipts for. It's also an opportunity to help her daughter (who is joining my daisy GS troop) to get caught up on her petal earnings so that she can bridge to brownies with everyone else in the fall.
After church I got to take a nice 2 hour nap and I woke up to dinner: scrambled eggs, skillet potatoes and muffin bread--yummy. Then Peter washed all of the dishes he used. I still have a messy kitchen, because I didn't get to anything but putting dishes into the dishwasher last night, but he was helping by cleaning up after himself. I understand that he doesn't want to deal with the mess that I have not gotten to cleaning in the past 2 days because of running all over town.
After dinner is when I got my gifts. Kevin and Shaylee did the song and then presented me with some pictures/messages that they had created with craft supplies yesterday. Peter had Ashlee give me a bag with two packages of Ghirardeli chocolates (dark chocolate raspberry and milk chocolate peanut butter). This morning as we left for church I saw a potted white Shasta daisy next to the flower bed--my gift from Peter. He knows I like flowers that will live longer than a few days, Although I did bring home the rest of the unclaimed carnations (16) that the bishopric handed out and put them in a vase for the table.

So, tomorrow I will be planting a Shasta daisy, 3 guillardia and a petunia (Shaylee's gift from school) in the flower bed--along with a couple of cucumber and a watermelon in the veggie beds.
In all, this was a great Mother's Day! My house is not as clean and tidy as I would like it to be, but I'll get to it tomorrow (the procrastinators mantra).
P.S. I don't randomly yell at my kids, just the normal "get stuff done" type of "prodding"

Love, love, love gaillardia! They are so beautiful. Your Shasta daisies are pretty too. I wish I had a house I could plant flower gardens at. So, what is muffin bread? Glad you had a good Mother's Day, I got a lovely card from mom with a really nice message from her.
The pictures of the flowers I found on the internet, though mine are beautiful. Just got them all planted this morning. Muffin bread is muffins baked in a square pan instead of muffin pans. I guess I could have also called it muffin cake.
Sounds like you really outdid yourself on those decorations -- beautiful! Wish i could have daisies too *sniff* (really, I'm allergic!). i usta want live flowers for MD, too, but now I'd rather have something I don't have to take care of!
BTW the "smart" procrastinator's mantra is "it's not that important" @:>
