And it's not just the kids, I admit that I have my own dessert issues--
I do want you all to know that this was not an every day thing, but I do admit that it happened more than I'd care to admit. Yes, I do have weight issues and I know that this contributes to the problem, but the sugar addiction is definitely NOT the only reason that I have extra weight. I did finally realize though that the weight issue would be easier to deal with if I knew that I was doing my best to eat well.
To get to the point. . . I realized that my addiction was imparting a
BAD HABIT
to my children. A habit that I did not want them to become burdened cursed with! So, for our family, three days is entirely reasonable. And here's why:
1. It gives us only three out of seven days in which to indulge in sweets/desserts.
2. I find that I am less likely to overindulge on the designated dessert days. I can get out of control much more readily when I am consuming sugar on a daily basis.
3. It makes it easy to tell my kids no, even when they beg. (seriously, Shaylee puts her arms in front of her with her hands facing down like a little pouting puppy dog)
I'm sure there are many other reasons I could list, but these three are the basics.
Anyway, our three dessert days happen to be Friday, Sunday, and Monday--so they are all clustered into one end of the week. This has been working great so far. . . But today I wanted some
CHOCOLATE
so bad it was driving me NUTS!
So, I cheated today and had some of Peter's Whataburger chocolate milk shake that he brought home after mutual.
He's not following the program quite and strictly. But he isn't as prone to cheating as I am!

Interesting that the one out of your three kids that is the least dessert dependent is the only one with a Y chromosome...
Yeah, and he was the one who I craved desserts with. Go figure.
