Meet D'Brickashaw

This is D'Brickashaw. Why is that his name? Long story, but I'll tell you anyway. The Hubby was watching football one day and heard the name. He said, "Honey, if we get another cat can we name it D'Briackashaw?" "Sure" I say because we already have two cats and I don't foresee us getting another one anytime soon; so I figure he'll forget within a few months and I'll be free to name any new cat additions to our family whatever name I want.

Enter this adorable fuzzy, fluffy little fur ball that looks like an oversized orange and white hamster. When he wandered across our front yard trailing a local tomcat he was only about a month old. He was freezing (it was January I think), starving and covered in mats. I couldn't just let him go and die somewhere as he was obviously an unwanted kitten. I took him in, gave him a bath, cut the mats out of his fur, warmed him up and gave him love. After about 3 or 4 days he stopped hiding and came out to play.

D'Brickashaw is a sweet cat. He is big and fluffy and a huge scaredy cat. I think his first month of life must have been hard because he is so scared of the littlest things. He's generally terrified of the Hubby, but is coming around. All the Hubby has to do is cough or take a step closer and it scares him off.

D'Brickashaw thinks that he is my boyfriend. He has claimed me. He sits with me. When I lay on the bed he sprawls over me and contentedly falls asleep. In fact, there are some times when I ask the Hubby to cough so that D'Brick will run off and I can have a little peace. But I love him and he is a sweetheart. And, believe it or not, when he is really comfortable and happy he drools. Not a lot, just a little around his mouth. It is the weirdest thing (I didn't know that cats drool) and kind of gross. But I know he is happy here even though the Bug likes to sit on him sometimes. He puts up with a lot, he's very mellow.

I know, this is a post about my cat. Just like the Ode to Angie that I posted when I first started this blog. Oh well. This is my life and my blog and I have four cats so you still have two more to meet on a day when I am bored and avoiding housework and want to come up with something to post. I think that all of my cats have their own unique personalities and I'm going to share them with you. Why, because I love my cats (but I love my family more) and I want to share them with you.
