A Job

Ok, so a week ago I started the process of applying for a job.  There was a job listed on Craigslist for workers at a brand new Mother's Day out at a local Christian church.  They were hiring assistants and "floaters".  I talked to the woman who was hiring last Saturday.  During the conversation I told her that I have not been in the workforce for 13 years because I have been raising my family.  She told me that a SAHM was exactly the kind of experience that I needed.

Monday I went to the church to fill out the paperwork. She called and set up an appointment for an interview with her and the Associate Pastor for Tuesday afternoon.  Wednesday morning she called and told me that I didn't get the job.  I was a bit disappointed but not really surprised.  The atmosphere of the interview changed after I told them that I attend The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and by Tuesday night I had already gotten the distinct feeling that I was not going to be offered the job.

It's unfortunate that so many other faiths don't understand that we believe in, follow and worship Christ also, but that is just how it is.  I don't think that these people are terrible for turning me down or anything.  That's just how it is.  I had been getting a bit uneasy about whether that job would truly be the right fit for me before I was turned down anyway.

When a door closes, a window opens as they say.  Yesterday Peter came home for lunch and told me that there were two of his co-workers who were looking for someone to watch their child.  One of them needed someone now and the other needs someone starting in January.  He got the number of the one who was looking now and I called her last night.  We talked about what she needed (the child is actually her nephew) and she told me she would talk to her sister and get back to me.  This morning she called and asked if I could start on Monday.  She and her sister brought the little guy over (he is 2) to meet me today.  He is a cutie.

I think this is one reason why the other job didn't work out.  This is a much better fit for me.  I will actually make more watching this 1 little boy than I would have at the Mother's Day Out program.  There was no uneasy feeling about this, it feels right and I am looking forward to Monday.

I will still be able to be home with Ashlee and make my yummy baked goods for people when the orders come in.  And I will be helping to bring in a little extra money so we can finish paying off some debt and have a little more money for groceries.

Heavenly Father was watching out for me!
