My husband's Aunt and Uncle who have lived only blocks away from us since we moved into our house 9 years ago left in July to go on a mission for our church to Chile. They sent an email letter to a friend at church who then forwarded it on to her church member email list. I am on that list and so I also received the email.
I'm not usually very good at writing to people--especially not right away, but for some reason tonight I wrote back. Even though it is after Midnight. I felt like the letter that I wrote to them had some important information in it and things that I did not want to forget, so I am posting a copy of it here since this acts as a sort of journal for me.
Dear Elder and Sister Bushman,
Boy, it is strange to call you that!
It was so nice to read your letter. Audra forwarded it on to me (and I'm sure everyone else in the ward whom she has email addresses for!). Your area sounds lovely. Our nights are beginning to cool down a little here and it seems that the holiday's are just around the corner!
The kids have started back to school and are enjoying it. I can't believe that my kids are in 5th and 2nd grades! Ashlee is enjoying having me to herself, but is always thrilled when everyone comes home at the end of the day. She is getting to be so big (and potty training). She loves to tease Kevin by making him think she is going to give him a hug and then giving everyone else in the family a hug first. She does this every night after family prayer--which she always wants to say for us. After she has hugged everyone, including Kevin, she gives herself a hug too. It's so funny!
Peter got out to the garage today and worked on his lathe. He made another bowl. I sure am grateful that Elder Bushman taught him how to use that thing before you both left on you mission! It was sitting in our garage for years and is finally being used.
I have started a new goal for myself. I plan to read the Book of Mormon through twice in a year. After I have done that I think I want to try for three times in the next year! It's amazing how our testimonies grow when we keep up with a goal like that.
I don't know if you were already gone when Peter and I were called into Primary to teach a 2nd Sunbeam class. It is going well for us. The first couple of weeks were rocky with two high needs children. But it is all beginning to smooth out now. I am finding that I truly love these children of God. I was worried about the calling at first because I had become burned out from being in Primary for so long before.
I want to let you know that I love you both and miss you both. You are in my thoughts and my prayers.
With Love,
Adriane
