I am not so sure that I even like camping anymore. It is so much work to get ready to go somewhere overnight, sleep on the ground, and wake up cold in the morning just to pack everything back up and go home. It seems like even more work when the place we go is only 45 minutes away from home.
We went to the Monahans Sandhills State Park. I have decided that it is a great place to go for a day of fun, but camping there--in a TENT--is insane!!! There is/was sand everywhere. Several loads of laundry and the necessity to set the tents back up in the back yard when we get home to clean them out, cuz that sand sure isn't going to stay out of the tent at the SANDhills!
The night wasn't too bad. The bug wasn't comfortable and wasn't going to sleep as of about 2:30 in the morning--until I snuggled her into my sleeping bag with me. Then she slept like an angel. I think it was because she was finally warm enough. I actually slept better than I thought I would with her in there with me! She didn't want to wake up in the morning and she was definitly not happy with the chilly morning air once she was up.
Even though I have decided that camping isn't as much fun for me as it used to be, we had fun. Saturday morning, after making breakfast and breaking camp we rented some discs (so not worth the money) and played in the sand for an hour and a half or so before heading homeward. The Boy had a friend come along with us and they had a great time. The two of them got to share their own tent-- and it ended up on it's side by morning--I think they must have slept the wrong direction and rolled into each other and the side of the tent in the night! I took some great pictures to share here. Be warned, the ones of me are ridiculous. I can't run 2 steps without falling on my face in the sand!

We decided that we are going to spend the summer going on a bunch of camping trips and using our dutch ovens and campfire popcorn popper!
FUN!
