Do You Know What I Hate?

I hate it when I decide that I don't have time to cut the Princess's hair so I decide while I'm at the mall getting her pictures done I just pay a little money and have her hair cut at Master Cuts. I hate it because I ended up wasting $14 on a haircut for her and then had to come home and cut it myself because the girl did not understand what I wanted her to do--even though I told her exactly how to do it several times when I tried to get her to fix what she was doing!

Several months ago ( I dont' remember how long, but I know it was before Christmas, and maybe even before Thanksgiving) I cut The Princess's hair and it turned out SO CUTE!!! It was really short in the back and tapered down to long in the front (think the little girl from All Dogs Go To Heaven:

It's almost like that girl's but doesn't get shorter on the top layer so much as it's shaved underneath and cut to frame the base of her head.

Anyway, I just wanted the hair girl to recreate the look since it was growing out and starting to look shaggy. I thought that would be pretty simple since she had gone to school to learn haircutting and I had not, yet I could manage to cut her hair into this cute style. Apparently not. I kept telling her to make it shorter in the back--I wanted a more dramatic angle to the point in front. Every time she shortened it a tiny bit in the back she readjusted the taper to the front.

I finally gave up, paid the $13 plus $1 tip (I don't know why I tipped her) and left. It wasn't even and it was nearly straight across through the back to the front. I was not very happy to say the least. It seems that I am going to have to cut all of my children's hair (including my husbands) from now on. Well, I think I'll still leave the Bug's hair up to the professionals for a while since she is so young--if her hair ever gets long enough to have to cut anything other than bangs!

Ok, ONE) you shouldn't have paid at all, much less left a tip, you were paying for a service that was not given, technically.
TWO) take a picture of someone with a similar cut or a sketch of the cut you want with you next time for the person to go off of.

Did you tell her not to trim the front shorter when she would shorten the back? I agree though, I have gotten better cuts from the beauty school students than from most so-called professionals.

now I have it shorter than i want it and it still isn't as nice as i would like, but it'll have to do
