Good Friends

I have to take a moment and comment on my appreciation for good friends. My life has been very busy lately since I'm helping with book fair this week. I was there all day Monday and all day today. I was there for about 2 hours yesterday because they needed some extra help and I wanted to be in there when the hubby brought his class in to preview. On a side-note, I have spent about $70 at the book fair already!
Most of it is for Christmas, though I admit that I did buy myself a Twilight poster.
Anyway, back to good friends. I have a friend--I'll call her A--who watched The Bug all day Monday (8:15 a.m to 5:00 p.m) and all day today (8:15 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.)do that I could go to book fair.

Yesterday was supposed to be my day to clean up the house and prepare for Daisy Girl Scout meeting. Here is what was going on as of 9:00 a.m. yesterday. The Boy was taking too long getting ready for school and therefore Hubby and the two school kids could not leave by 7:10 in order for The Boy to be at school in time to catch his bus to get to the campus that he goes to twice a week for his Gifted Education classes. We decided that he would just have to go to regular classes to learn his lesson since the Gifted campus is waaaay across town and he needed to learn the importance of hurrying in the morning. At about 8:15 a.m. I get a call from The Boy saying that his teacher and principal say that if it is a GEM (Gifted Education M.) day he has to be at GEM. So, I get dressed and get The Bug dressed and we head over to pick him up.

On the way to his GEM campus I stopped to get him a little breakfast since he didn't get a chance to eat at the school and we all know how important it is to eat a good breakfast. Although good for you is questionable in this case. It is about 5 till 9:00 when I walk him in to sign him in to school late and my phone rings while I am in the office. . .

Once I was outside I called my friend--I'll call her S--back since she was the phone ringer a moment earlier. She wanted to know if I was coming out to her house like we had talked about me doing on Sunday. We sometimes get together to bake bread. I had completely forgotten. So---I told her how crazy my morning had already been and that I had to get my house all clean before Daisy meeting and that I had committed to help a little at the book fair again, so I didn't think I could make it.

Here is (part of) what makes her so great. She asked if there was anything she could do to help. My natural tendency is to say that I'm all right and I don't need help. But when she asked if she could come and help me get my house clean my resolve faltered and I told her how great that would be. Very odd of me to accept that offer. Anyway, we agreed on me calling to let her know once I was home from helping at book fair and she would come over.

This is part of why this is such a wonderful and selfless offer: she lives about a 20minute drive from me and gas is pricey and she has a 19 month old and a 3 1/2 month old. I love those boys!

She came over and together we worked for about 2 hours and got my house (at least the public part of my house) pretty well picked up. Dishes done, stacks of stuff cleaned up, floors swept and vacuumed, etc. She even went through corners that had accumulated junk that I had ignored for weeks. I could never have gotten so much done without her help!

Here is the cherry on top of her helping me sundae: she is going to watch The Bug for me all day tomorrow so that I can be at book fair again. (Did I mention that I am second in command for book fair and that is why I am helping at it so much?) But, she is not just watching The Bug---she is driving to my house to pick her up by 7:30 in the morning so that I don't have to drive out there to drop her off! I don't think she could get much more selfless if she tried! I truly do love her and appreciate all that she is doing and has done for me.

Anyway, it was a long story, but necessary to explaining what makes these two great ladies who are in my life such great friends. I hope that we remain friends for a long time.

Yeah for great friends. It's great to have them!
As I'm typing, I hear Linkin Park. I love it!
